Activities in or on the water abound. For the fisherman there are boat charters where experienced captains will lead you to deep-sea fishing for the big ones: Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi-Mahi, or for the Bahamian National Fish, the Blue Marlin. If fly fishing is your preference, spend a day with a native bonefish guide in the shallows seeking the elusive and challenging “grey ghost” of the Bahamian waters. Great Exuma is often called “The Bonefish Capital of the World” and has been the host to many of the World Bone fishing Championships. Snorkeling, diving, exploring blue holes and caves, reefs and wrecks are adventures waiting for you to experience. By a guided boat tour you will be able to see curly-tail lizards, iguanas, friendly goats, and swimming pigs (honest!). Consider kayaking in the Government-reserved sea park at Mariah harbor; or exploring sand banks in search for treasure shells; or renting your own boat to simply enjoy the sights and scenes of Elizabeth Harbor, picnicking on a small deserted island beach; or tying up at one of the local watering-holes to enjoy a mid-day conch burger and a cold Kalik beer. Swimming, beachcombing or just relaxing on the sand with a good book, it is all to be had in the Exumas!
